Michael Sam has finally found a home field, thanks for the Canadian Football League (yes, it really does exist). He signed a two-year contract with the Montreal Alouettes, who are saying "Bonjour, Michel" with open arms.

"With the signing of Michael Sam, we have become a better organization today," said Alouettes general manager Jim Popp in the team's news release. "Not only have we added an outstanding football player, we have added even a better person that brings dignity, character, and heart to our team."

This is fantastic news for Sam, who had a rough year in 2014 under the media's watchful eye. He was drafted in the seventh round by the St. Louis Rams as the NFL's first openly gay player, only to not make the team. Following that he did a brief stint on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad before they released him in October. Then in April, he was voted off of ABC's Dancing with the Stars – not as life serious, but still. America just wants to see this guy win.

But it looks like Canada will beat us to it.
